Dr. Zakari Yusufu Aliyu is a native of Nigeria, West Africa, where he completed his medical degree and a Masters in International Relations. He immigrated to the USA 27 years ago where he completed graduate professional programs including a Master’s of Public Health, clinical residency in Internal Medicine, Fellowships in Hematology and Stem Cell Transplant, and a Fellowship in Medical Oncology and another in clinical and research Fellowship in Vascular Medicine all at the US National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Aliyu’s major research had been on vascular therapeutics, sickle cell disease with a pinnacle achievement of establishing a collaborative research center at Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria-his alma mater. He also worked with a group of medical scholars to study congenital polycythemia in Chuvash Republic, Russia.

Dr. Aliyu’s personal and spiritual interests include Ulumul Qir’at, Tajweed, Tafseer, and teaching Tajweed to the next generation. He is married with children and honored to serve the Ummah always.
