Islamic Center of Hawaii
Assalamu Alaikum. Muslims of Hawaii form a vibrant society. On the Big Island, the Islamic Center of Hawaii arranges various social and religious programs for Muslims, as well as educational programs for non-Muslims. It has been hosting hundreds of Muslim families, students, and tourists. The Muslim Association of Hawaii located on Oahu estimates there are currently over 5,000 Muslims living in the State of Hawaii from 42 different countries of different races and cultures, many of which are American-born citizens. Besides the local population, there is a huge number of Muslim tourists visiting Hawaii each year. The Islamic Center of Hawaii is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established on December 15, 2015. The Tax ID is 47-4350023
Alhamdulillah, we have purchased 688 Kinoole St. #101, Hilo, HI 96720 property. This is not a big property (room size is 649 sq. ft.) and there is a common bathroom (men and women) next door. It will satisfy our immediate needs. We can at least gather and pray there. In the meantime, we keep looking for a church or a better property for our future Mosque. If we can secure a better place, we aim to sell this property or use it as a rental property.
Currently, the Islamic Center of Hawaii is offering Jummah prayer, Tarawih prayer, Social/ Eid Feast gatherings, Iftar gathering, Job training/resources, Quran lessons, Arabic lessons, Muslim Wedding, Muslim Funeral, Moonsighting, Interfaith interactions, and research and academic collaborations with local universities services to our community. Now, we are seeking financial support to continue these services as well as support to decorate our new place. Please visit our donate page and donate. You can donate using PayPal Giving Fund, Zelle, regular PayPal, and other ways.
Please join us Friday at 12.15 pm for Jummah prayer. Khutbah will start at 12.30 pm. Tarawih prayer will start at 8 pm during the month of Ramadan. You can park in the front or backside of this building. There is plenty of customer parking and street parking also available. This place is also wheelchair accessible. Sisters are also welcome to pray with us.
A common question we receive is where to find halal meat. Here is a quick list of places that may offer it. Supply varies, so best to call before going to make sure it is in stock. If you have any others to add, please let us know.
